Another Time XVI - Antony Gormley (TEMPORARILY REMOVED)

Breakwater at Surfers Paradise, Het Zoute

About the artwork

Another Time  is a series of one hundred sculptures, identical to the one hundred massive sculptures of Another Place (2007). The sculpture is that of a stylised human figure made from solid cast iron. The work questions the place of man within the grander scheme of things. Each work is necessarily isolated, seeking to convey what it is like to be alive and alone in space and time.

About the artist

English sculptor Antony Gormley (1950) grew up in Hampstead. His best-known works include ‘Angel of the North’, a gigantic sculpture that doubles as a landmark in Gateshead, and ‘Another Time and Another Place’ (1997), comprising several figures.
