About the artwork

This monumental ten-metre sculpture was designed by Philip Aguirre y Otegui. The artwork comprises a circular inner space of five metres in diameter, made from bricks and mortar, that houses built-in benches. At the top of the space, there is a circular opening that, like the entrance, is not closed off. This enables contact with nature and allows light to enter from above.

About the artist

Born in Schoten in 1961, Philip Aguirre y Otegui’s family fled from the Basque Country to Belgium in 1936. His sculptural oeuvre consists mainly of compositions in patinated bronze, while other works also feature materials such as terracotta, plaster, cement and epoxy.

This sculpture can be visited every day from 10 am to 5 pm.
