About the artwork

The sculpture ‘Why Worry’ (2009) by Thomas Lerooy evokes a sense of alienation that leans towards surrealist thinking. Within a history of classical imaging, the artist plays with the tension between the grotesque and the beautiful. Lerooy's humorous approach is a reflection on the iconic image and the idealised body in sculpture.
