1991 saw the publication of issue one of iconic fashion and culture magazine Dazed & Confused. A publication which has lead and created style for over three decades, its visual iconography is known world over. Founder and Dazed & Confused's first Photographic Editor, Rankin set the visual tone that the magazine is now known for.

From its inaugural issue, Dazed & Confused has always pushed boundaries and defined youth culture; from highlighting BAME and LGBTQIA+ models, to finding future stars for the magazine’s cover, Rankin did what had never been done before. He democratised fashion photography, and blurred the lines between fashion, music, film & culture. Rankin’s work from his time at Dazed & Confused forms a manifesto about how to view the world, a political statement communicated not with words but with a camera lens.

The exhibition “Rankin: The Dazed Decades” looks to examine Rankin’s inimitable style and vision of photography. Through his photography archive of genre pushing artwork, highlighting not only social issues spearheaded through the publication, but also the celebrities and famous faces that have dominated popular culture over the past three decades.
