In the 'Window on the past' expo, step into a time machine and let yourself be transported to Knokke-Heist's past.

On the occasion of their 50th anniversary, Heemkring Cnocke is Hier tells four fascinating stories.

From Zeeweg to Lippenslaan: The development of the first commercial street in the seaside town from 1887 to 1987: the street layout, the specific buildings and the middle class.

Disappearing Hotels: In 1939, Knokke-Heist had 200 hotels, now only about 20.

Cottage and villa construction in the Zoute: When the residential Zoute was created in 1908, the cottage building was characteristic. In the interwar period, the country style was applied mixed with Art Deco elements.

Decor for Artists: Dozens of artists from home and abroad discovered the Oud Zoute, 't Kalf and Maeger Schorre districts from 1883 onwards.
