Green belt Heist-West: Sashul, Lighthouse meadows and clay pits

If you really want to enjoy one of nature’s surprises, then cross the bridge for soft road users. The Lichtenlijn (Light Line) connects the Bay of Heist with three lesser-known small reserves and the Bruges hinterland.

These are three adjacent domains, with a total surface of more than 100 hectares. Sashul, the Vuurtorenweiden (Lighthouse Meadows) and the Heist Clay Pits are very specific, each in its own way. You can easily cover them all during a single hike, and you will discover that there are opportunities for the development of rare natural sites, where you can experience nature at its best, even in the shadow of an expanding global port such as Zeebrugge!
